Welcome to Umphress.net!
I have created Umphress.net for
a couple of reasons.
First and foremost is my desire
to learn the nationality of my first Umphress ancestor to arrive in America.
I have heard many family stories and have been told the Umphress patriarch
possibly came from England, or Scotland, or Wales, or Ireland. While
these stories no doubt contain elements of truth, they can't be
considered solid evidence. Second, I want to discover how the various
Umphress clans are related and make contact with them. If you are an
Umphress and don't know who I am, I want to hear from you!
Now that you know some of the purposes of this site let me share
a few of the specific uses
I have in mind. This site is meant to be used as:

A repository of Umphress family
stories, history, and documents

A gateway for the various
Umphress clans to share their knowledge

A
forum
for people interested in the Umphress line to exchange information

A virtual notice board to post
information about upcoming family reunions
This site is still under construction and has a
long way to go before it is finished. Features mentioned above
may not be operational at the moment, but I am working on them as time
allows. If you have any ideas or suggestions, questions, or material
